What motivates you during bad mental health days?

Post by Ravenfreak » Tue Nov 08, 2022 2:28 am

Those with depression know all too well that some days, you just can't seem to get up to do literally anything. Just doing simple tasks such as taking a shower, brushing your teeth, etc. can be a chore and very draining. You can even forget to eat during these periods of time too, or even lack the energy to prepare a meal. What do you try to do during these days to help get you out of the funk? Do you listen to some music, or maybe your favorite podcast as you work on taking care of yourself/chores? I'm curious to hear, my spouse has depression and I would like to help whenever I can.

I usually just take about real. Helps out a ton when you hate the world. I'd recommend taking an hour off.

I willingly try not to allow a critical state when I can't do anything and everything is very slow, but such moments happen and you just have to survive them. If, for example, I will be out of reach for 3 days and live alone only at home, then this will pass and the condition can quickly stabilize.

I don't have depression as such. But yes, there are days when I feel low on energy and motivation. It's hard to push myself to do the bare minimum required. Listening to music, a long walk taking fresh air or watching a good entertaining movie lifts my mood. Socialising with close friends and family or even talking with them over phone helps me. I am blessed to have few close people who make me feel safe and I feel comfortable sharing with them.
Depression can be tough. One has to watch for the red flags and triggers that might worsen the situation. And try every bit to avoid them
