Last weekend was eventful for football lovers, but one of the actions that left me in awe was Ronaldo rejecting a penalty the ref awarded to his team. Dude went to the ref and told him that the penalty awarded is wrong. I have never seen that happen. Have you?

Yes, I've seen so many other players do the same thing. It's not Cristiano Ronaldo that's the first player to do it. Aaron Hunt did it in the match between Werder Bremen v FC Nürnberg (Bundesliga 2014). He was awarded a penalty when he falls down in the box while having possession. But Hunt refuses to take the penalty, accepting that there was no contact. After a replay, it was proved that Hunt tripped himself.

This is what sportsmanship is all about and I believe that if so many other players start behaving this way, football is not going to be seen as something aggressive but something that is played with love and understanding.

That was really nice of him. To be able to reject a penalty situation because of honesty is what most footballers should aim to emulate. Trying to cheat or cut corners as footballers should be strongly advised against most of the time by many of the coaches.
