Title: Depression in Middle Aged Women
Post by: Ciri on March 17, 2022, 12:51:38 PM
According to  a paper published on National Center for Biotechnology Information, U.S. National Library of Medicine, people in the middle age are likely to suffer from depression more than people in other age group. The study found that women are more susceptible to depression than men (81 percent).

Some of the reasons might be hormonal changes (menopause for example), getting old, social pressure to look young and beautiful, issues with kids and spouses, etc.

Sometimes, there are so many variables that interfere with these reports and makes them invalid to some extent. There is a good chance possibility that women within that age range might be prone to depression but it doesn't make it a full guarantee always.

Growing older comes with more aches & pains. We are not as spry as we used to be. Those with kids who left home may have empty-nest syndrome. We find that life has just passed us by. It's quite depressing! I realized this month I graduated 30 years ago. Yeah, that "Where did all that time go?" passes in my mind.
Middle Age Crisis is very real & needs to be dealt with before it spirals people into a deep, dark depression. Finding a new niche, a new calling in life can really help.

Depression can affect people of all ages and genders, but middle-aged women may be particularly vulnerable to depression. Here are some factors that may contribute to depression in middle-aged women:

Some of the common reasons are:

Chronic health conditions: Women in middle age may start to experience health problems such as chronic pain or illnesses, which can contribute to depression.

Social isolation: As children leave home and relationships change, women may feel socially isolated, which can lead to depression.

History of depression: Women with a history of depression may be more likely to experience depression in middle age.

Lifestyle changes such as regular exercise, a healthy diet, and getting enough sleep can also be beneficial.
