Bipolar disorder is actually a personality disorder, which is affected by mood swings. There are basically two types of bipolar disorders mania and depressive. Mania is extreme high, where as depressive is extreme low.
Interestingly, not many people know they have bipolar disorders. Bipolar disorders are common in children and adolescents but they do not know about the disorders until they are diagnosed in their adulthood. If un treated, it might become severe and may result in suicide.
