The Hangout / Re: Do you go to the gym?
« on: November 03, 2023, 05:55:27 AM »
I used to go to the gym and used to have a personal trainer but she got really slack at checking in and asking if I needed anymore sessions and I always feel that people are judging me when they look at me at the gym because I'm still a beginner.

Mood Swings / Re: What triggers you off easily?
« on: November 03, 2023, 05:53:36 AM »
I get triggered a lot by people who ask questions without thinking such as on forums or people who make it their job to bug me and will continue to harass me until I've done something.

Why Life Sucks and What You Can Do About it / Re: What causes stress?
« on: February 22, 2023, 06:55:53 AM »
The drama of real life added with the drama of the online world and then news and gossip. Basically anything is going to cause stress if you let it. With me being open minded I accept two sides to something most of the time so it doesn't stress me too much.

How You Feeling Today / Re: Did You Have a Good Day, Today?
« on: February 22, 2023, 06:54:07 AM »
Yes me and my partner did a bit of bedding and clothing shopping today and got some lunch. I love shopping despite everything being too expensive nowadays.

Depression / Re: What made you realize you suffered with depression?
« on: February 22, 2023, 03:52:25 AM »
Nothing would ever make me happy. No matter what I tried. I did get the odd occasional rush of happiness if I watched a movie or whatever but then I fell back down. I knew then I had to go get help. New Zealand is known for the 'It's OK deal with it' kinda attitude and years ago men would just have to get over their depression as people expected them to get over themselves. These days men's mental health is a lot more common.

Other Mental Diseases / Re: Gaming for mental health
« on: February 22, 2023, 03:49:39 AM »
Mobile Gaming really helps my mental health. Playing Minion Rush or Dice with Buddies. Video gaming doesn't help though as I cannot stand all that shooting or whatever is the craze these days.

Mood Swings / Re: Do you find social media affects your mood?
« on: February 22, 2023, 03:29:16 AM »
If there is conspiracy people on Facebook then it affects my mood as I hate when people talk so much silly talk. Or if I am in a fight with someone it affects my mood.

Quotes, Images, Memes, and Gifs / Re: Does Gifs can make stress low?
« on: February 22, 2023, 12:02:06 AM »
If I'm having such a tough day then sure to'ing and frowing GIFs with people makes me happy because it's fun to see what GIF they come back with. I will randomly post a GIF in a topic if I'm having a low mood to see what people do.

For me I have always pondered what my life would be like with absolutely no mental health issues but I think people would think I'm "perfect" and I hate that word because nobodies perfect. Plus I wouldn't have been able to go on a path of finding out the true me if it wasn't for my mental health challenges.

Other Mental Diseases / Munchausen's syndrome
« on: February 20, 2023, 05:20:57 AM »
Munchausen's syndrome is a rare psychological and behavioural condition in which somebody fabricates or induces symptoms of illness in themselves.

One of the biggest cases of this is Dee Dee & Gypsy Blanchard. Her mother Dee Dee made Gypsy look so disabled to the point Gypsy couldn't take it anymore and killed her mother Dee Dee. They got given tickets to anything and everything and made people feel sorry for them.

Turned out there wasn't much wrong with Gypsy after all except for the fact her mother was giving her meds which she didn't even need.

Stress / Stress Toys
« on: February 20, 2023, 05:09:31 AM »
Stress toys are effectively toys you can squeeze to relieve stress. They are also fidget toys seen below. Do they help you? I've tried them but they don't help me too much.

Personality Disorders / Dissociative identity disorder in Movies
« on: February 20, 2023, 04:37:53 AM »
As someone who has been diagnosed with Dissociative identity disorder I find the way they sometimes portray this disorder in the movies a bit wrong. Take the movie Split for example James McAvoy plays someone who has DID but it certainly isn't portrayed the right way. "The film “Split” depicts a violent kidnapper with dissociative identity disorder. Experts say it’s not an accurate portrayal of people living with the illness.".

So how do you feel when you see someone have DID in a movie when they haven't got it in real life?

Mental Health Issues in Popular Arts / Re: Horror Movies
« on: February 08, 2023, 03:25:06 AM »
I love Horror Movies to the point where if I'm having a bad day they make me happy. No - I'm not a psychopath lol

I can watch a Horror movie but I can't have a blood test easily or see the sight of blood in real life. I guess because in Horrors I know it's fake. But it's still weird how I can't cope with things in real life like I can if I watch a Horror movie.

I find books really hard to follow as I lose concentration easily so my eyes will start reading other lines and so I can't follow the stories that well. I can concentrate on books by authors like Roald Dahl because they're smaller books. But I will always prefer movies and even if the movie is three hours long I can still focus on it if it's interesting. Some movies start out slow and really irritate me.
