“Depression can be the sand that makes the pearl. Most of my best work came out of it. If you get rid of the demons and the disturbing things…then the angels fly off too. So there is a possibility in that mire of an epiphany.” ~ Joni Mitchell

“The truth doesn't always make sense.” ~ Who said that? I DID!
BACKGROUND: My late husband and I were struggling with a difficult problem. He wanted me to tell him the truth and that way he could work on solving the problem. I told him the truth. His response was “That doesn't make sense.” Frustrated and a tad bit angry, I replied back: “Do you want the truth? Or do you want me to tell you something that make sense? Sometimes people do things that don't make sense. But they did it and that's a fact which makes it the truth. AND that means … The truth doesn't always make sense.”

One of my children had anxiety and it appeared he was OCD. He would come home from school and try to clean everything. He was convinced that there were awful germs everywhere. You would think that a parent who did not have to tell their teenager to clean up might have been able to learn to live with their child having that kind of “disorder”. But it was very disturbing to watch his behavior. He is much older now, received medical treatment, and seems to have learned how to control it. There are numerous articles on this topic. Psych Central published an excellent article that answers this question. It clarifies that “While OCD is considered a mental health condition, psychosis is not. Psychosis describes a mental state that can occur in many other conditions, including OCD.” The Connection Between OCD & Psychosis | Psych Central ~ https://psychcentral.com/lib/the-connection-between-ocd-psychosis

I live in the USA. It's easy to change lemons into lemonade. There are so many opportunities to improve your quality of life, and to turn something bitter into something sweet. So I generally do not complain. I follow the example of the Apostle Paul who said: “I have learned how to be content, no matter what my circumstances.” Because sometimes in this life, you can't always always make lemonade – meaning, you can not always change that unpleasant situation that you're in. You can not control the “external”. But you can control the “internal”, i.e. your mind, your attitude, your behavior, your reaction, your response, etc.
I knew of a man who did not live in a free country like the USA. He was put in prison for his faith. They gave him the worst job as punishment. He had to clean an area of the prison that smelled so bad, even the prison guards would stay at a distance. They were so far away from him that they could not hear him. He would use that “punishment” to pray, to mediate, to sing spiritual songs, and uplift his spirit. He was in prison for practicing his faith and yet he was still in that prison practicing his faith. He could not change his external environment. But he could control his inner spirit.
That man's example is what I think of when I get ready to murmur and complain about my “lemons”.

I used to have what my late husband characterized as “mood swings”. But I figured out the source. It was my job. When I first started working at this particular job, I very much enjoyed it. But then I got a promotion and was relocated to work in the nation's capital, Washington, D.C. The work environment there was like a pressure cooker. Many things that happened during the workday affected my mood. But my husband figured out that music was a good way to change my mood, calm me down, and turn me back into myself. When I changed jobs my “radical” mood swings went away. My “normal” mood swings came back. Cause after all, everybody has their up days and their down days. But if you start experiencing "unusual" mood swings, you definitely need to find the source.

My Quote not just for the Day but for the New Year: “I’m going to take the red pill.”People like to say that they wish there was a pill they could take for happiness. Of course, we all know there is not. But even though there isn't one I am going to pretend that there is. My inspiration was an article I read about Keanu Reeves, on of my favorite actors. “ Take the red pill: The most famous scene in "The Matrix" is when Reeves's character Neo is offered the choice between taking the red pill or the blue pill. The red pill ... he says. “It represents the best of who we could possibly be to ourselves and other people."” Quote via The Profile Dossier: Keanu Reeves, Hollywood's Most Gracious Actor ~ https://theprofile.substack.com/p/keanu-reeves

Hi! Several years back I found myself unemployed. But I refused to NOT WORK. My kids gave me a computer and paid for the Internet. That's how I started working online. I started with affiliate marketing but friends I met online directed me to forums. I am active on several forums. I created my account here because the forum Admin was gracious enough to invite me. Looking forward to contributing here.
