10th October is recognised as World Mental Health Day. This is to increase awareness about the Mental health in the society and also to mobilize all the resources to help people with mental health issues. It was first celebrated on 10th October 1992 and was an initiative by Deputy General Secretary Richard Hunter. Till 1994, it was celebrated as a day for increasing general awareness about mental health. After that each year, it is being celebrated with a theme. The theme for World Mental Health Day 2023 is " Mental Health is an universal right." Every human being irrespective of socio economic condition or any discrimination should have access to facilities and resources that ensure a good mental health. It's a day to increase awareness and help people drop the stigma associated with mental health issues in any society. It's day for professionals to come and talk about the issues.
