For those who have been through depression, they know there are just those days when getting out of bed is a hardship. Taking care of simple tasks is daunting. Do any of you find when you write, it helps relieve some of the depression you feel? Do you find it helps you get through the day? Or flipside, have you found writing actually makes you feel worse?
I have always loved to write & it's one of the things I can count on to lift me up, even if it's temporary.

I used to write poetry when I was depressed but I am not sure if it helped a lot. I know it did, but not sure how much. Poetry I wrote was in the time I tried suicide so maybe it had some kind of positive effect not to try that nonsense again. :D

The only time that I have felt depressed in my life, nothing helped me with it. It wasn't writing or music or movies or even talking to anyone in form of therapy. The root of why I was depressed needed to be fixed and when it was, I got better quickly.

Writing can be a beneficial tool for managing depression. It allows for self-expression, reflection, and can provide a sense of release. Writing can help clarify thoughts and emotions, serving as a therapeutic outlet. However, it's important to seek professional help in addition to writing if experiencing depression.
