When it comes to social media, many people tend to portray a life of perfection online compared to what they are often going through in real life. This can often leave many seeing a different side to someone's life and comparing their life with the life someone is describing they have online and it can often lead to mood changes for those who look at these statuses and compare them with their own lives. All too often they also do not realize that many portray a life of perfection online to make themselves feel better.

I remember when I used to scroll on Facebook a lot before I moved away from it quite a bit, I used to see so many people posting about how perfect their life was, how they had great days out with family and such but that is all they seemed to post. It got me thinking that my life wasn't like that and I used to feel down about it until I realized a lot of people only tend to put out there what they want others to hear and not the bad side of their life. Coming away from social media like I had helped me become less down whilst using social media and my outlook on social media now has changed a lot.

Do you find social media affects your mood? If so, in what way does it affect your mood?

All the toxicity on social media is something I would rather avoid.

I stopped using Social Media as I find they are one-sided & just like with Mainstream Media, is for the WOW factor & entertainment, not for actual facts & news. I had to get off of it because it increased my stress too much. I find forums, while we can have deep topics, are just less stressful especially if they are moderated well. Social Media tends to have thousands of members so the moderation level goes down.

Social media does tend to affect my mood, I should drop it all together but unfortunately most of my family are on Facebook and don't want to use forums. :S I could always get their numbers I suppose, but I don't like talking on the phone. Most of them don't really like to text either. Recently I thought about taking a break from social media, I think I might do so starting this weekend.

If there is conspiracy people on Facebook then it affects my mood as I hate when people talk so much silly talk. Or if I am in a fight with someone it affects my mood.

Yes, I do. It can make me sad, angry, etc. I try to take a break if I feel a certain mood as to not let it ruin my day.

Yes, reading success stories on Facebook would often make me feel jealous at times, and depending on where I browse on Reddit, it can make me feel depressed with the negativity everybody brings about.

Nope, not at all. When I was younger I am sure I had dependency on what people think of me but now when I am 30, I just don't care. If we talk of that aspect but if we talk about posts found on social media, that can affect my mood because I follow many pages with funny content. So, in that case, yes, social media can change my mood into happy one :D

My use of social media doesn't affect my mood in any way. It's what I want to see I follow, if I feel someone is being toxic, I will block the person and get it over it. I have control over how I make use of social media sites.

There is a lot of bullying on social media that I can't even deal with them. That is the reason I am always staying low-key and wouldn't want to get into some issues with anyone about what is happening on social media.
