Mental Health and Social Media

Post by Eva » Tue May 28, 2024 11:13 pm

Do you see any connections between mental health and social media usage? Do you think social media is making mental health conditions worse or do you believe social media is helping people to cope with mental health issues?

Yeah I feel like using social media tends to make me more depressed and angry with the posts that people share. I took a break from Facebook for a while but I came back to the platform about a month ago after one of my Uncles passed away. I'm thinking about taking another break soon.

social media can impact mental health. Excessive use often leads to anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem due to comparison, cyberbullying, and sleep disruption. However, positive interactions and support networks on social media can improve mental well-being. Balance and mindful use are key

I like to agree because people that spend more time on social media are prone to many mental health disorders which does not look severe but affect their personal life.
