Both players are now playing away from Europe and it makes me wonder, if we can have two players raise their games as these legends did in their prime. Are we going to experience that?

This is true. I strongly doubt that there is going to be any two players that can match each other the way Ronaldo and Messi did during their time.

That rivalry now is going to be between Haaland and Mbappe. But that would not be as intense as the Ronaldo a D Messi rivalry :because those two players were singular match winners for most of the matches they played.
