Depending on the console, the most important factor is the games selection on the console
If you're talking about a handheld PC like a RoG Ally, then it comes down to ergonomics and possibly build quality & support by the manufacturers.

When choosing a handheld gaming console, I consider a few key factors based on my personal experience. First, I look at the game library to ensure it includes titles I’m excited about. Portability is also crucial for me; the console needs to be compact and easy to carry around. Battery life is important, too—nothing’s worse than running out of power during a gaming session. I also pay attention to screen quality, as a high-resolution display enhances the gaming experience. Comfortable controls and ergonomic design are essential, especially for long play sessions.
